Hello,
My name’s Jess, and I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor in Bristol.
Knowing where to start can be confusing. There are many different types of therapy and it throws up a lot of questions. ‘How does it work?’ ‘How do I know if it’s right for me?’ I hope to make it clearer with the information below, however if you still have questions, reach out and ask.
About me
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, this is a complicated way of saying, I have lots of different tools in my tool box to help support you in the way you need. I pull on useful elements from different types of therapy. I believe sharing education around mental health can be really empowering and means you can take what we do together in our sessions into your own life.
I do not pretend to be an expert on you, instead I will try to work with you, figuring it out together as we go. And never going faster than you feel comfortable with. Therapy by its very nature can be heavy, but I also believe there can be laughter and lightness, and I welcome this into how we work.
I am trained to work with adults, young people and children (from 14+). I am a registered member of the BACP (British association of counsellors and psychotherapists). I do my best to welcome everyone from any walk of life, into my counselling room, and to treat you with respect and kindness.
I have ADHD and Autism and have lived and breathed the experience of living undiagnosed, the process of diagnosis and beyond. I am passionate about supporting neurodivergent people with whatever stage of their journey they're on. Whether you are formally diagnosed, self diagnosed, or are just starting to explore the thought you might be neurodivergent. Counselling can offer much needed support and I work in a way to adapt to all different needs. I have extensive CPD training in working with ADHD and Autism in the counselling room.
I have tried to describe what I do without using unnecessary therapy jargon, however if you are interested in finding out more detail about me and how I work then please click here.
How it works
-
1. Get In Touch
Please fill out the contact form below and share a little about what’s been going on for you- your age, where your based, and anything you feel would be helpful for me to know. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
-
2. Phone Call
We can arrange a 15 min phone call, which is free of charge, to see if I am the right fit for you. I welcome questions and would recommend you see this as interviewing me to see if I could be someone you’d like to work with. We can skip this part if you'd rather meet face to face.
-
3. Initial Session
We book in an initial session to discuss things in more detail face to face. This can be just one session, while you decide If I am right for you, or you can book in a block of sessions depending how many you want. This session is charged as my standard rate.
-
Length of Counselling
I offer flexible counselling, from short-term work to longer-term support. We can explore what feels most helpful for you.
-
My Prices
My fee is £60 per session. Each session is 50 minutes long. I offer a small number of concessionary-rate sessions. If cost is a barrier, please feel free to get in touch so we can explore options together.
